Very well executed oil on canvas painting by Eugene Califano. Approximately 10" x 7 3/4" WITHOUT the frame and matting. WITH the frame and matting it measures 18 3/4" x 15 3/4". Signed lower right E. Califano. Eugene Califano was American 1893-1974. He was a painter, etcher and teacher. Born in 1893 in New York City. His address was listed as Chicago, Illinois. He studied with Capuano, Celentano, Borgoni and Giardiello. Work: Cathedral of Salerno, Italy. He is listed in Who was Who in American Art, Hughes and Davenport. This portrait of a ram is in excellent condition. It has been behind glass since it was painted. The glass was recently removed because it had a crack. So the picture itself is in newly painted condition.
