Albert Rosenthal (American, 1863-1939) was born in New Hope, Pennsylvania, some 40 miles from Philadelphia. Known as a painter, etcher and lithographer, he studied in Philadelphia, Paris and Munich. He was awarded bronze medals at both the St. Louis Exposition of 1904 and the Panama-Pacific Exposition of 1915, and his work is held in many museums and private collections. This work shows a horse-powered mill for grinding sorghum, used in making molasses. The dimensions given below are for the framed piece; the image size is 9 1/2" x 11 1/2".
