Abe Rothstein was a well known north shore Jewish Boston artist that was in a group of artists that included Alcalay of the Harvard Art School. This is from his 1950's abstract period when he combined an abstract and cubist form. There is not much available from him in that period and he was much more prolific later with traditional oils and landscapes. This looks to be mostly inks and is very well done on board and matted. The opening size for the art is 9.5" x 14.5. with the matte it is about 17.5" x 22.5". A masterpiece for him and not his later common work. Bought from his estate by the great deceased folk artist Stephen Huneck. I purchased from Stephen with a group of Alcalay and Rothstein work about 10 + years ago and have held since then.
