There is an amazing amount of character in this exquisite, small piece. From his seated position, the nude man looks upward, as if appealing to some higher force. With his left arm he gestures towards himself. What does he wish for? Happiness? Wealth? Perhaps he is asking for a long life, which is certainly what the gods have granted him.
