Attributed to the Atella Painter, this large and very fine Hydria shows on its obverse a nude young man with arms and legs spread wide moving towards a young woman who holds a phaile. Behind the man is a small attendant figure or possibly a child, while a satyr and female float above. The figures stand upong a thick ground line done in a meander pattern alternating with a floral motif. On the reverse are a profusion of palmettes and split palmettes giving the impression the intriguing action of the figures is taking place outdoors, adding to the overall mystery of the scene. - (PF.5348)
