The obverse of this charming bell krater depicts a dancing draped female wearing a sakkos. Her body is orientated towards the viewer’s right, whilst her head turns towards the left creating a sense of movement. The figure clutches a mirror in her outstretched left hand, and a wreath entwined with a fillet in her right. The arrangement of the dancer corresponds to the popular ‘X’ shaped composition. Fillets are arranged in the field and a palmette design flanks the figure on both sides. A vertical line motif runs beneath the rim of the krater and a wave motif near the base.
