A spectacular piece of Valdivian phase IV pottery. This gorgeous shallow pre-fired red slipped bowl has a scalloped rim and made to imitate a carved gourd. It's border trimmed out to accentuate its shape with five iconic Valdivian faces separated by two short strokes in between. Double lines encircle the lower half. Light deposits with minor fire clouding. Completely intact with no repairs or restoration. Choice.
