Exceptional art! Northern Peru, Viru culture, ca. 300 B.C. to 200 A.D. Bridge-spouted bi-chrome pottery vessel in the form of a standing warrior; negative-resist design over red background, with warrior standing in full regalia and war paint, holding mace in one hand, shield in the other. Vessel has a whistling device incorporated into it such that when fluids are poured out (or air blown in via the thin spout) a lovely deep whistle emerges. 7-1/4"L x 6-3/4"H x 3-3/8"W, intact/excellent condition.
