A most unusual example of the ever popular negative resist type pottery from the Narino culture of Colombia. From the Capuli cultural complex of the highland region of Colombia, ca 850 to 1200 AD, pottery chalice with round base and squared top, decorated in complex negative resist patterns of concentric circles, step patterns and dots and coils and other geometric forms. Corners cut-out in stepped pattern. 6"H x 5-3/4"W, intact and generally excellent with small chip at one corner and another at base. A very attractive vessel of most unusual form!
