From ancient Peru, first Chimu Regio phase, ca. 1100 - 1400 AD. Finely-burnished brownware pottery effigy stirrup vessel depicts a captured deer posed on its side, with bound legs. A very artistically advanced, open style of pottery for the period. 6-1/4"H x 7-3/4"L, intact/generally excellent, save missing tip of tail.
