Ancient Pre-Columbian Diadems from Peru, Chimu culture, ca. 800 - 1425 A.D. Made from sheets of silver, headbands like these were the symbol of power of warrior priests who wore them on their forehead as part of a headdress at rites and other public appearances. The 10"L wide example appears to be only a partial headband and features a raised pebble pattern; the 11"L narrow band is decorated with a repeating geometric pattern with a large raised dot in the center of each geometric element. Both have bends and creases, plus a few minor losses. Category:Peruvian Material:Silver Dimensions:10"L, 11"L Condition:Intact
