Pre-Columbian, north coast of Peru, Mochica 5,ca. 500-600 AD Bi-chrome pottery vessel painted in negative (where dark color highlights the figures, which are actually the original back ground cream colors of the vessel). Depicted are ferocious battle scenes in two rows, showing a multitude of warriors in full battle, including decapitated heads and limbs. An extraordinary example! 7-1/2"H, excellent.
