From the North Coast Peru, Mochica I, Salinar, ca. 300-100 BC. Depicts a kneeling / captured warrior with a painted face Mask showing much expression; he is nude but has an elaborate hair style; rope around his neck; exposed male genitalia with pubic hair represented. What makes this piece extremely unique and rare is that it is done kaolin instead of terracotta / pottery. 8"H, intact/excellent with minor rim chipping.
