this is a cover for genitalia... from the ancient Marajoara culture, Island of Marajo, Amazon Delta, Brazil, ca. 800 to 1400 AD.
Some of the only Pre-Columbian pottery to come from Brazil, Marajoara pottery is also some of the most finely-decorated pottery.
This pubic cover is one of the larger we have seen, and is drilled at each corner for suspension.
Decorated, but design is now very faint. 7"W x 5"H x 1-1/2"D, intact and excellent
