Large and wonderful! Ancient polychrome pottery vessel decorated in the form of a human head, from ancient Peru, Nazca culture, ca 200 to 400 A.D. Painted in shades of red, brown and black in the form of a male head - probably a warrior - with large eyes decorated with what appears to a type of war-paint, pursed lips, angular nose and indications of facial hair; his hair worn under a woven cap/red headband, showing cropped hair on the reverse. Larger than normal, 7"H x 6-1/2"W, in good to excellent condition, repaired from several fragments, with area of restoration around nose.
