Rare to find one, incredibly rare to find three! Chavin culture, north coast of Peru, ca 1000 BC. Lot of three pottery whistles in the form of two avians and one unusual amphibian or fish. First is a parrot, with spout in the tail, nice facial details; the second bird-form appears to be a type of motmot; and the third ocarina is a species I do not recognize - some type of amphibian or fish with bloated body and small curled tail - possible a tadpole. All covered in brown slip and all intact and excellent. Sizes range from 2" - 2-1/2", all custom mounted. Category:Chavin Material:Pottery Dimensions:2" - 2-1/2" Condition:Intact
