Northern Peru, dating between 900 and 500 BC. Crafted in the form of a native tree-hanging fruit or gourd – certainly a staple in the diet of this amazing culture. Alternating lobes in white and burnished red, with small stem attachment at upper center and heavy, traditional Chavin double stirrup. 8â€H, intact and near-choice with nice areas of firing clouds giving it a somewhat mottled appearance.
