Stunning, albeit a bit frightening, ancient spatula from the Chavin culture of northern Peru. Ca 1000 to 500 BC, bone implement used in the inhalation of hallucinogenic powders, carved with a wonderful image of the Chavin god of the underworld - later became known as Ai Apec in the Moche culture that followed some 500+ years later. Carving further enhanced with added red pigment. Measuring 6"L, intact and excellent with age-crack down the front (not affecting the integrity of the strong image). Custom stand. Category:Chavin Material:Bone Dimensions:6"L Condition:Intact
