Echoes of ancient times express themselves touchingly in this sculpted terracotta female head. While we may never know this lovely ceramic lady's original function, our imagination can envision her as a votive offering to the gods, or perhaps accompanying her owner to his or her grave. Maybe she pleased a small child as a special toy. Whatever her ancient purpose, she undoubtedly possessed a sculpted body that compared favorably with her face, its delicate features framed in soft curls. To behold her dainty and demure image is to experience the faint whispers of the mysterious past, as her spirit begins to reveal its long-kept secrets. - (PF.2386)
