Jars are vessels with wide mouths and a short neck. Most jars don't have an added base. Their major function was to hold thick substances such as ointments.The jar has a squat globular body with a tubular rim folded inwards. It sits on a concave base. Three handles are applied with folds to the rim. - (G.0193)
