His curling tongue forms the wick hole, while his ears and horns provide finger grips. The idea that a simple, even necessary, household object like a lamp should achieve the status of a work of art continues to delight us after all these centuries. As we hold it in our hands, we feel the pleasure it must have given its original owner so long ago. The base of this lamp has been repaired. - (Z.0088)
