A heavy bronze slave neck ring with a fully functioning lock mechanism, dating to the Late Roman/Byzantine period, 400-600 AD.
The ring is of bronze with a fairly high tin-amount and it is decorated on the front side.
The ring was used by the slaves when the were out, shopping on the market or running other errands for the master.
Condition: Superb. Dark bronze patina.
We have never seen another slave ring this old and well-preserved - very rare!
