A large and exceptionally patinated low Roman bronze bowl, dating to 1st.-3rd. cent. AD.
This lovely bowl was hammered from a round piece of thick bronze and it measure some 180 mm. in diameter and is some 50 mm. high.
The purpose is either a food bowl or an offer bowl (phiale).
Condition: Superb! One of the best patinated bowls we've ever handled, dark green-blue patina, very even colour that looks like the deep sea! Some uncleaned earthern deposits. A fantastic antiquity!
