Reign of Emperor Theodosius II, (408-450 A.D.)
From the Mint of Constantinople, 430-440 A.D.
Obverse: Theodosius II depicted as a warrior emperor in three-quarter pose, wearing a helmet and a cuirass, holding a spear and a shield which depicts a horseman in battle. DN THEODOIVS P F AVG.
Reverse: Constantinopolis enthroned, facing left, her foot on the prow of a boat. Holding a scepter in her left hand and the globe and cross, a sign of divine authority to rule, in her right. Behind the throne sits a shield. An eight pointed star in the field. VOT XXX MVLT XXXXS. CONOB in exergue.
Scalloping along rim of both sides. Natural patina present. Found in Bethlehem. Slight wear but overall in very good condition.
