An extremely high quality Babylonian cylinder seal of black shiny serpentine, dating to the Sumerian UR III, 2100-2000 BC.
Impressive seal, 16-17 mm. thick and 26 mm. long, quite massive in hand.
The seal depicts a sharply carved contest scene between human headed bulls, and other creatures standing on two legs.

Condition: Near Mint! Finely patinated seal with fine ancient surfaces.
