A very rare bronze vessel, Indus Valley or Iranian, Baluchistan. c. 1500 BC.
This highly decorative and artful style bronze age jar or large drinking vessel, combines the beauty of the early Indus Valley ceramic bowls with stylistic elements from early Iranian bronze age art.
The vessel was made in Balluchistan, North-Eastern Iran, which was the borderline between Sumerian/early Iranian culture and the cultures of the Indus Valley. The vessel is very well-made for the archaic type, measuring c. 95 mm in diameter and some 96 mm. high. Attractive design with a low slung belly, concave walls, a round foot ring and a flaring rim.
Condition: Nice, rough surfaces with a mottled patina, much uncleaned dirt still on the surface.
