Culture: Holy Land. Date: 500 - 300 BC. Material: Pottery. Condition: Intact, with minor repair around rim and a couple of repaired cracks one at the bottom, and one on one side. Provenance: Ex: American private collection. Measurements: 10.5 inches high (26.5 cms). Of footed base with carinated shape and a flat shoulder area. The neck ends with a rounded rim . The handle is twisted, and the body is decorated with similar era Cypriot flasks with concentric red bands. This flask is of extremely rare shape, and with unusual type of handles that is seldom seen. Cf: Cat. no. 110, p. 113, Israel in Antiquity, The Jewish Museum/ New York; another similar one of this carinated shape was found in the wall niche of an early Roman period home in the Jewish quarter of Jerusalem.
