Khurasan Bronze Bucket - FZ.125, Origin: Central Asia, Circa: 12 th Century AD to 13 th Century AD, Dimensions: 7" (17.8cm) high, Catalogue: V1, Collection: Islamic Art, Style: Khurasan, Medium: Bronze. Metal buckets occur in the pre-Islamic cultures of the Middle East and it is likely that Islamic buckets are based on the classical prototype of tapering cylindrical form known to have been produced in Egypt. In the Central Asian region, the flat-bottomed cylindrical form gave way to a round-bottomed one and then to a bucket with a rounded body, to which a foot was added.
