Green-Glazed Earthenware Amphora Vase - LO.729, Origin: Central Asia, Circa: 7 th Century AD to 13 th Century AD, Dimensions: 7" (17.8cm) high, Collection: Islamic Art, Style: Islamic, Medium: Glazed Earthenware. Double handled jar with uneven lead-green glaze covering all the surface up to the everted rim. Concentric incised bands on the neck. Whether this type of vessel was produced in Bamiyan or some other centres in Afghanistan is still not certain. Their distribution covers not only Afghanistan but also Khurasan and other parts of Central Asia, though always dated prior to the Mongol invasion in AD 1220.
