Glazed Oil Lamp - AMD.138, Origin: Central Asia, Circa: 1000 AD to 1300 AD, Dimensions: 4.3" (10.9cm) high x 7" (17.8cm) wide, Collection: Islamic Art, Medium: Glazed Earthenware. Early Islamic lamps were a continuation of Byzantine lamps. Initially they were decorated with stylised bird, animal or foliate motifs but over time geometric and linear designs were favoured.
