Elongated alabaster chalice with splayed foot andevertedflattenedthelongstemslightly splayedatthebase.Through;themainrawmaterialwassoftsteatiteoradarksoapstone,butalsovariouskindsofmarbleandwhiteveinedalabaster.Themainsourceforthesestones,includinginnorthwestern Afghanistan,whichprovidedmaterialnotonlyforthe Bactrianand Margiancarversbutalsofarthertothewestinto Mesopotamia,forthe Assyriankings.Whiteveinedalabasterwasindeedusedincludingsmallvases with disproportionately long stems and low capacity, such as the one here illustrated.
