From humble beginnings, Roman Emperor Aurelian emerged as one of his empire's greatest generals. Born around 207 A.D., from modest parents this young skillful youth rose above his immediate surroundings and proved his might to an empire. On the wings of courage and victory Aurelian soared to great heights in his military career which escalated him to Commander of Cavalry. Shortly after the death of Claudius Gothicus, Aurelian was rightfully proclaimed Emperor by his troops at Sirmium, and after the suicide of Quintillius, he reigned undisputed as master of the Empire. Aurelian reigned for five years, and within this short time he restored the Roman Empire to its former extent and greatness. The magnitude of Aurelian's greatness was felt far across the empire. The impact of his assassination shocked his people with the same force as his celebrated reign. This splendid coin capturing the image of a remarkable Emperor has been exquisitely mounted in 18 karat gold. The greatness of the Emperor and his Empire can only be coupled by the magnificence of the person who shall adorn it. - (FJ.1066)
