Crispus was the son of Constantine the great by his first wife, Minervina. He was appointed Caesar by his father in 317. Jealous of his growing popularity and fearful for the succession of her own three sons, Constantine’s second wife, Fausta, fabricated evidence of treason against her step-son. Crispus was imprisoned and later executed. When Constantine learned the truth about his wife's plot, he condemned her to death and she was thrown into a bath of boiling water. - (FJ.5307)
