The form is pure grace! From the ancient Greek colony of Apulia, Gnathian style, ca. 325 BC, a pouring vessel called a prochous, used to pour olive oil at the dinner table. Decorated with added pigment in red, white and gold in chevrons, egg-and-dart, floral and "tongue" designs, plus two molded human head at side of spout; in the manner of the Rose Painter. 7"H, in near-choice condition with one invisible repair near the base. ca. 325 BC Category:Greek Material:Pottery Dimensions:7"H Condition:Repaired
