A phiale was a ceremonial offering vessel integral to the religious practices of a variety of ancient cultures, although they are most generally associated with Greece and Rome. Similar phialae have been attributed to Achaemenid as well as Greek protypes, emphasizing the intercultural nature of society and the transfer of artistic ideas.
