From southern Italy, Apulia, ca. 4th century BC. Black-glazed pottery jug done in red-figure, with concave neck pinched to form a broad shallow frontal lobe and two small side-lobes (creating a trefoil, allowing liquid to be poured in any of three directions); front features the profile head of a Lady of Fashion wearing white, pearl-like earrings, her hair dressed in a kekryphalos with a radiate stephane. 4-1/8"H (10.5 cm), repair to lip, minor rim chips, minor glaze loss, as shown. A really sweet piece!
