A polished section slice of a tooth of the extinct Woolly Mammoth (Mammuthus Primigenius); the slice showing the original biting surface to the upper face, and datting Circa 30,000 BC.
The section measures approx 6.5" x 3" maximum (approx 16.5cm x 7.7cm)
Condition is fine, and would make an excellent display specimen.
Mammoths were animals of the Ice Age; they co-existed with and were hunted by early man. The North Sea basin is a drowned lanscape, flooded after the end of the last Ice Age. Fishing trawlers occasionally bring up bones and relics from when the area was inhabited as dry land.
