Cowroid: Name given to a cowrie shell-shaped amulet, frequently inscribed and serving a purpose similar to that of a scarab. This fine example dates to the New Kingdom, Dynasties 18/20 - ca 1570 to 1070 BC - and is made of faience, a type of glass paste. Upper section nicely incised and lower section showing series of glyphs. 20mm by 14mm; intact and choice.
