A very large and exceptional Egyptian Scarab, dating to the New Kingdom, c. 1200-1000 BC.
This scarab is carved in a superiour banded agate stone. The carving and sýmethri is excellent. Highly polished to a glasslike degree. Possibly a hearth scarab due to it's impressive size - c. 23 mm. long and massive weighing 6.22 grams.
Provenance: Gorny & Mosch, December 2010, Ex. old German collection.
Condition: Superb, a few microscopic chips on the base.
