Authentic ancient11th Dynasty circa 2134 - 1991 BC Egyptian necklace composed of rich glazed turquoise blue faience tube beads and blue, white, gray and beige faience disc beads.
Adorned with a blue faience amulet depicting the god Shu, kneeling with arms upraised supporting a sun disc.
In Egyptian religion Shu was the first deity to be created by Atum; He was the father of Nut (sky) and Geb (earth) with his sister and wife, Tefnut (moisture). He is the lord of cool air and the upper sky, responsible for holding up the firmament and keeping it separate from the earth, and as such, was associated with peace and order.
DIMENSIONS: Approximate length in a straight line: 80 cm (32 in). Height of the pendant: 2.6 cm (1 in).
CONDITION: Three blue faience tube beads broken, otherwise in good condition.
