Large and fine pottery figure from ancient Mexico, Veracruz culture, Classic Period, ca. 450 to 650 AD. Depicting a seated shaman looking as if in a trance, eyes closed, legs folded with hands to his knees, spiked headdress adorning his head, large beaded necklace and black bitumen decorating top of forehead and lips. 11"H x 7"W x 3-1/2"D, a few missing spikes and a few almost-invisible repairs, else excellent.
