Extremely rare form! Pre-Columbian, Panama, ca. 1000 AD. Terracotta pedestaled plate (fruitero) with irregularly-shaped top, depicting a stylized serpent. Polychrome painting in black, orange, cream and plum over an orange-cream slip. 6"D plate diameter x 7"H, repaired from several large fragments with overpainting over breaklines, plus some surface roughness, else very good.
