From ancient Mexico, Nayarit, Lagunillas (Chinesco), ca. 200 BC to 200 AD. Terractotta shallow bowl with beige slip, red and black paint. Interior shows a dynamic / archetypal design suggestive of bird forms or animal tracks on the ground. Very well-made and finely painted, typical of Chinesco pieces. 7"D x 3"H, intact/generally excellent, save several stabilized hairline cracks, minor abrasions/chips.
