It is hard to imagine the skill it took to create such a fragile object - especially given the tools the early Mayan artisans had to work with! Mayan, most likely Guatemala, ca 500 to 800 AD. Hand-flaked from a transparent type of hard-stone, in what appears to be the shape of a running animal. These creations can be a bit enigmatic and subject to modern interpretations that may be less than accurate. 2-3/4"L x 1-1/2"W, intact save missing tip of one edge.
