Ancient Pre-Columbian Head Pot from Costa Rica, Guanacaste region, Jicote style, ca 1000 to 1200 AD. Rounded polychrome pottery jar, with band of zoomorphs around rim in black, facial features in relief painted in red and black over tan base. The Jicote style is similar to the Villejo style, save this group of potteries is shown with a mustache. Also appears this figure may be shown with blood dripping down the sides of its mouth. 10"D x 8"H, two stabilized cracks, light loss to pigmentation and a few rim chips, but very rare to find this large.
