This small marble amulet bears a striking resemblance to Near Eastern sculptures dating millenia earlier. The eyes, which capture our attention first, are round and staring; the hands are clasped to the chest in a reverent attitude. Perhaps this talisman offered constant prayers on behalf of its owner. Perhaps it is praying still, though to which god we are uncertain.
