This is a southern Song dynasty longquan glazed censer in dark olive colour. It stands on three long legs with a globular body with a short straight neck and then everted towards a slightly flatten mouth rim. On the mouth rim stands two handles opposite each other. This piece is interesting in that on close oberservation, it shows very clearly how this dark olive glazed censer is being produced. It shows how the legs are being attached to the body, the luting of the globular body and the attaching of the two handle to the top of the mouth rim and etc. The longquan censer would make an interesting study piece for those who are interested in studying how the ancient potters produce their ceramics. This is also shown on the photographs.
The olive green glazed censer is in good condition with the exception of some abrasion due to long period of burial. There is no repair or restoration or any chip.
