This is a Song dynasty qingbai appliqué dragon funerary vase in high relief. It has a short splay foot rim, then everted upward to a u-shaped body with a slight tilted wide shoulder and with a finger pinched moulded rim. From the center of the shoulder rises a long neck winding upward edges, like the ancient tower of Babylon, towards what looks like a garlic head rim. It has a five claws dragon coiling round the neck of the vase chasing after the flaming pearl in the sky. Two of the claws are seen clutching the flaming pearl, one in the front claws and another in the back claws. The other two claws are seen resting on the molded shoulder rim.
As a funerary and burial object, abrasions, chips and glaze fritting can be expected. There are some restorations to the appliqué as shown by the yellowish patches of restoration work, mostly on the dragon and the clouds. Please refer to the photos attached to view the condition.
The measurement of the yingqing funerary vase: the height is 23.6cm and the width is 13cm.
