Moulded Ceramic Amulet - LO.684, Origin: Central Asia, Circa: 800 AD to 1200 AD, Dimensions: 2.625" (6.7cm) depth, Collection: Islamic Art, Style: Early Islamic, Medium: Terracotta. Terracotta roundel featuring an elephant with two mahouts (riders) on its back; the elephant and the two figurines are briefly sketched but efficiently rendered. One small perforation in the upper semi-circle of the roundel would suggest its use suspended.
