Price on request.A gentle-faced bronze figure of Quanyin (the Goddess of Mercy) seated on a lotus pedestal. She wears an ornate necklace and has prayer beads on her right wrist. There is an image of Buddha beneath the veil on her head. Placed before her is her ambrosia bottle (kalasa). At the foot of her lotus pedestal is a band with two dragons facing a flaming pearl. Some design elements (robe trim designs, lotus design at her back, etc.) have been etched into the bronze whereas others are from the casting.
Period: Ming - 16th Century
Size: Height = 37 cm (14-1/2 inches), Width at base = 13.75 cm (5-3/8 inches)
Condition: Very good and has a very nice patina. The head area was most probably touched innumerably so it is lighter in color and the little Buddha features above the head have been worn down. Such touching is done traditionally for good luck.
